Rehabilitation Center Athletic Trainers

The Rehab Center's certified athletic trainers attend high school team practices and sporting events for many Nebraska panhandle schools. We work with student athletes and coaches by teaching proper conditioning exercises and injury prevention as well as assessing injuries for severity. The athletic trainer will suggest how to best treat the injury, which may include a referral to a physician.

The Rehab Center is a regional sponsor of the Nebraska Sports Concussion Network and supplies training to physicians who are certified network providers.

School Coverage
Trainers make one to two visits per week to several participating area high schools to evaluate and treat athletic injuries as well as provide care at athletic competitions. We currently provide athletic training services to Scottsbluff, Mitchell, Bayard, and Bridgeport high schools.

Clinic Hours
An athletic trainer is available at the Rehab Center Monday through Friday from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Walk-in visits are welcome or you may schedule an appointment with an athletic trainer by calling the Rehab Center at 308-630-1355.

Three visits are allowed per injury at no charge. Saturday morning clinics are held during the fall sports season. An athlete may be seen for an initial injury or treatment for a previous injury during any sports season even if not participating in a sport at that time. Parents are highly encouraged to accompany their minor child to the athletic injury clinic visit.

Speed, Power and Agility Program
The Rehab Center at Regional West Medical Center is offering a sixweek Speed, Power & Agility sports performance program to all student athletes entering grades seven through 12. The program will run June 1 through July 10. Designed to help athletes reach top conditioning level as they enter the fall sports season, this program focuses on increasing speed, agility and explosive strength utilizing plyometrics and core training to achieve these goals.
