Before your surgery

Thank you for choosing Regional West for your surgical procedure. We’re committed to providing exceptional surgical care. To help you know what to expect, how to prepare for your procedure, and to promote a safe recovery, we encourage you to review the following instructions.

Pre-register

A Regional West admissions clerk will call you to gather important pre-registration information. You will receive instructions on when and where to check in for your procedure.

Medications

Your Pre-Admission Testing nurse will tell you which medications, if any, to take with a small amount of water on the day of surgery.

Eating/Drinking

Do not eat or drink any food or liquid after midnight the night before your surgery, unless given specific directions otherwise. Please follow “nothing by mouth” (NPO) instructions given to you by your Pre-Admission Testing nurse.

Tobacco

Do not use any tobacco products on the day of surgery. Regional West is a tobacco-free campus.

Change in your health

If you become ill with a cold or flu before surgery, please notify your surgeon’s office during office hours. After hours, please notify the Surgery Department by calling 308-630-1370.
