Regional West Medical Center partners with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, to provide a two-year family medicine residency program in Scottsbluff.
Through the Family Medicine Residency program, physicians move to the Scottsbluff-Gering area to complete the final two years of a three-year residency program under the guidance of Regional West physicians. Family medicine residents develop a continuity practice as they care for patients at Panhandle Community Services – a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) – in Gering.
Residents participate in weekly family medicine Grand Rounds and didactic programs via distance learning technology and interactive video. The program includes month-long rotations in specialized care with local physicians.
Rotations include: obstetrics/gynecology, surgery, family practice, neurology, pediatrics, orthopedics, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, urology, cardiology, behavioral medicine, occupational medicine, pulmonology critical care, four months of elective time, and two months of rural practice.
