Trauma Survivor’s Tea Planned to Honor Former Regional West Patients

Scottsbluff, NE - The Regional West Trauma Services Department will host its first “Trauma Survivors Tea” for former patients who are survivors of major trauma. The tea will be held on June 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Scotts Bluff rooms at Regional West Medical Center.

The event will offer an opportunity for former trauma patients to meet their care providers and enjoy fun and fellowship with others who have had similar experiences. The Survivors Tea is open to victims of major trauma, such as serious automobile accidents, who were treated at Regional West Medical Center. Families of trauma patients who succumbed to their injuries are also encouraged to attend.

Special guests will include two former trauma patients who were treated at Regional West, ShaRone Lindsey, RN, a nurse from the Chicago area and Jennifer Mosher of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mosher is the author of “A Smile on My Forehead,” a book about her experience at Regional West Medical Center, recovery, and her life as a traumatic brain injury survivor. Lindsey’s trip to Scottsbluff will also include serving as the keynote speaker at Regional West’s annual Employee Appreciation Banquet.

If you would be interested in participating in a support group for victims of trauma, but are unable to attend the tea, please contact Shermaine Sterkel, RN, BSN, Trauma Nurse Coordinator, at 308-630-1557.
