SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., ― Two students and an administrator from Regional West Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology earned special recognition at the annual Nebraska Society of Radiologic Technologists (NSRT) conference in Grand Island.

Each year, the NSRT conference gathers radiologic technologists from across the state for educational presentations, job fairs, awards, and competitions among student attendees. First year student Madeline Steinbron, of Glendive, Montana, won second place in the Student Bee out of more than 100 students. Second year student Mykel Palomo, from Gering, earned third place in the Scientific Exhibit Contest out of nearly 50 submissions.

“Each year the NSRT recognizes special achievements of radiologic technologists and students across Nebraska. We had another great year representing western Nebraska and Regional West Medical Center,” said Josh Lively, MHA, BSRT(R)(VI), Regional West director of Imaging Services. “We are so proud of our program and our students’ fantastic work.”

Program Director Stephanie Cannon, MSRS, RT(R), received Life Member status – one of the highest recognitions awarded by the organization. Life membership is reserved for individuals who demonstrate exceptional, sustained service and leadership within the NSRT and the radiologic technology profession. Since its founding in 1931, only a very limited number of members have received this distinction.

NSRT leadership recognized Cannon for her many years of dedicated service, including roles as secretary/treasurer, president elect, president, board chairperson, advisory board member, and treasurer. Her leadership was instrumental in strengthening the Society and modernizing operations through initiatives such as the transition to paperless systems and improvements in administrative processes.

“Since NSRT was established, only 26 individuals have earned the elevated status of Life Member. I am so thankful to have Stephanie here at Regional West training the next generation of radiographic technologists,” Lively said.

Founded in 1951, Regional West Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology is a hospital-based program located in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. In addition to being the only radiographer education program in western Nebraska, the program is also accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology and the State of Nebraska. Students are taught procedures that enable graduate technologists to perform in a small community hospital or a large metropolitan medical center..
