Regional West Celebrates DAISY Nurse Award Winner

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., ― Regional West recently recognized Ashlee Clampit, RN, as the facility’s first DAISY Award winner of 2026.

Clampit, a registered nurse in Regional West’s Infusion Center, was recently celebrated by Regional West leadership and fellow employees for her dedication to comfort and reassure her patients. The DAISY Award is an international program that celebrates outstanding nurses who demonstrate a dedication to excellence through clinical expertise, compassionate care, and extraordinary service.  

Clampit’s nomination from a patient said, “When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I felt overwhelmed, scared, and uncertain about what the future held. From the very beginning, Ashlee was more than just the nurse who administered my chemotherapy; she became a source of comfort, strength, and reassurance. Each time I came in for treatment, she treated me with kindness and a calming presence that helped ease my anxiety. She took the time to explain everything, answer my questions, and make sure I felt safe and cared for. Her patience never wavered, even on the hardest days.”

“She treated me not just as a patient, but as a person going through something incredibly difficult,” her nominee continued. “Her compassion truly set her apart. She understood the emotional weight of what I was facing and met me with empathy, encouragement, and genuine care. She had a way of making me feel less alone in my journey, and that meant even more than words can fully express. Because of her, my chemotherapy experience, something I feared so deeply, became more manageable and filled with moments of comfort and hope. I am beyond grateful for the role she played in my care and healing. She is the kind of nurse who embodies everything the DAISY Award stands for. She goes above and beyond in every way, and I can think of no one more deserving of this recognition.”

Oncology Nurse Manager Shurell Mize, BSN, RN, said, "Ashlee is one of the most empathetic, compassionate, and knowledgeable nurses our team has had the pleasure of working with. Working in Oncology is not easy; our patients are often receiving scary diagnoses and starting treatments that may be long. Ashlee has this gift in her that creates relationships with our patients. Even if she is not the nurse caring for a patient, she is always checking in on them, seeing how they are doing, and communicating with them. Her patients and our employees truly appreciate her and the care that she delivers every day.”
