Regional West Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology Celebrates 75th Anniversary with Online Fundraiser
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., ― Regional West Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology is celebrating its milestone anniversary with a virtual silent auction from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 31.
The school was established in 1951 by radiologist C.N. Sorensen, MD, the first of his specialty in the area. Since his vision came to fruition, hundreds of students have gone through the school’s program to become trained radiologic technologists serving both rural and urban communities.
The silent auction will include an assortment of items, including a two-person round of golf at Riverview golf course, tickets to the Henry Doorly Zoo, and a one-week stay at a private condo in Mexico. All funds raised will benefit the school.
Program Director Stephanie Cannon, MSRS, RT(R)(ARRT), said each contribution can make an impact on current and future students.
"We’re so proud to celebrate 75 years of educating radiologic technologists. Our students have flourished in rural and urban areas across the country, which speaks to the strength of our program. All the money we raise will help our mission to add more technologists to a fast-growing medical field,” she said.
Regional West Imaging Services Director Josh Lively, MHA, BSRT(R)(VI), reflected on his own time in the program and how the money raised will make a difference in classes to come.
“The field of radiology continues to grow and change. I went through the School of Radiologic Technology over 20 years ago, and many of the technologies that I learned have been replaced,” he said. “This fundraiser will help us use and implement both current and new technologies within the program, while helping to keep our program affordable for our students and community. This support of our program really can make an impact for the next generation of technologists.”
