Organ Donation

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., ― April is National Donate Life Month! Regional West is proud to work with Live On Nebraska to help make lifesaving and healing transplants possible for thousands of people in Nebraska and throughout the U.S. each year.

Just as trees grow and support each other in a forest, organ and tissue donation connects people – donors, recipients, and their families – for generations. Every donor’s gift leaves a lasting legacy of hope and life.

Organ and tissue donation facts

  • Each donor has the potential to save eight lives through organ donation and heal 100 people through tissue donation.
  • More than 400 Nebraskans and 100,000 people in the United States are waiting for lifesaving organ transplants.
  • Anyone at least 16 years old can register as a donor regardless of their age, health, or lifestyle.
  • Every 10 minutes another name is added to the waiting list.
  • Each day, 17 people die waiting for an organ transplant.

Donate Life Month is celebrated each year to honor those who have given the gift of life through donation and raise awareness about the life-giving benefits of donation. Donor registration is available anytime at LiveOnNebraska.org, at the DMV, or when applying online for a Nebraska hunting or fishing license.
