Meds to Beds program

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., ― When inpatients are discharged from Regional West Medical Center, they can skip the line at the pharmacy and get their prescriptions delivered before leaving the hospital, thanks to the facility’s Meds-to-Beds program.

This spring, Regional West Medical Center kicked off its Meds-to-Beds program, a convenient bedside delivery service that allows patients to get their prescriptions from Community Pharmacy at Regional West before dismissal. To enroll, patients can speak to a Regional West care team member, who then contacts a pharmacy employee. The employee will review prescription insurance information and options for collecting medication costs, work to coordinate and complete any prior authorizations, and deliver medications directly to the patient’s bedside. There is no cost to participate in this program.

Patients who take medications as prescribed can not only have a smoother recovery but also reduce their risk of being re-admitted to the hospital. Community Pharmacy at Regional West Manager Kim Dove, RP, PharmD, said this service can help patients worry less after discharge and focus more on their recoveries.

“When you’re being discharged from the hospital, you want to get home as safely and quickly as possible. With Meds-to-Beds, our patients can get their prescriptions delivered directly to them, so they don’t have to make a stop at the pharmacy first. It helps them check one item off their to-do list so they can concentrate on healing,” she said.
