West Nebraska Blood Center Seeking Donors for World Blood Donor Day

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., – Every year on June 14, countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day. The event serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood.

In recognition of World Blood Donor Day, West Nebraska Blood Center encourages new and long-term donors to schedule an appointment to give blood during the month of June.

Blood is an important resource, both for planned treatments and urgent interventions. It can help patients suffering from life-threatening conditions live longer and with a higher quality of life, and supports complex medical and surgical procedures.

A blood service that gives patients access to safe blood and blood products in sufficient quantity is a key component of an effective health system.

Donating blood or platelets is a simple, safe, and easy process. To donate, you must meet the following requirements: be in good health, be 16 years of age and older, and weigh more than 115 pounds.

To schedule an appointment to donate blood or for more information about blood and platelet donation, call West Nebraska Blood Center at Regional West, 308-630-2477.
