Village At Regional West Honors Fallen Heros

Scottsbluff, NE - Residents of The Village at Regional West paid their respects to five fallen servicemen from western Nebraska in a special Veteran’s Day salute designed to honor all U.S. veterans, held November 11 at The Village.

Marine Corporal Adrian Robles of Gering; Navy Petty Officer David Moreno of Gering; Army Specialist James Wolf of Scottsbluff; Army Staff Sergeant Jason Fegler of Banner County; and Army Sergeant Cory Mracek of Hay Springs were honored in a special presentation developed by two local military veterans.

American Legion Post #36 Commander James Todd and Senior Vice-Commander Jeremy Delgado, Marine Corps veterans who both served overseas, developed a multimedia tribute as part of the national “Fallen Heros” project.

The presentation was first shown at the local September 11, 2008 “Freedom Walk” in which the families of the deceased veterans participated.

“The families were very receptive to the project. They made it possible,” said Todd.

Todd, a Scottsbluff police officer and Delgado, a network specialist at Western Nebraska Community College, volunteered their time to develop the presentation to honor the memory of the local military heros. They also presented a memorial wreath to Village staff member, Kika Godinez, who is Adrian Robles’ aunt.

Eighteen veterans who reside at The Village were honored with boutonnières and corsages at a reception hosted by residents and staff.

The Village at Regional West is a retirement community located in Scottsbluff that includes a 43-bed assisted living facility and 57 independent living apartments. It is owned by Regional West Health Services.
