Regional West School of Radiologic Technology Graduates Five

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., – The Regional West Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology is proud to announce the graduating class of 2008. Graduation ceremonies will take place in Scottsbluff on August 8.

The Regional West School of Radiologic Technology was founded in 1951 and is today the only radiologic program in western Nebraska. The original goal of the program was focused on educating personnel for employment at Regional West itself. But throughout the years, the program has grown to educate radiologic technology students no matter where their employment destination. Graduates of the program become technologists in small community hospitals or major metropolitan medical centers.

The Regional West School of Radiologic Technology offers a 24-month program of study leading to a certificate in radiography. The school is located at the Regional West South Unit and offers clinical education settings at Regional West Medical Center, Scottsbluff Orthopaedic Associates, Horizons West Medical Group, Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance and Community Hospital in Torrington. The school is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)

Graduates of the program become radiologic technologists, also referred to as radiographers. Radiologic technologists take x rays and administer non-radioactive materials into patients’ bloodstreams for diagnostic purposes. The also produce x-ray films (radiographs) of parts of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problems.
