Regional West Physician Recruitment Success Continues

Scottsbluff, NE – Two new physicians will join Regional West Medical Center’s medical staff within the next month, and a third will arrive next summer after completing his medical residency program.

Mithun Sreekantan, MD, joined Regional West’s new hospitalist program on October 26. Specializing in internal medicine and the care of hospitalized patients, Dr. Sreekantan will share hospitalist responsibilities with Doris Purvis, MD, who launched Regional West’s hospitalist program earlier this year. A third physician, Manoj Kumar, MD, will join the hospitalist program next summer after completing his internal medicine residency.

In December, orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine fellow Anthony Sanchez, MD, will join Drs. Timothy Friedlein, Stephen Purvis, and Gregory Harbach at Regional West Physicians Clinic-Orthopaedics.

Dr. Sreekantan earned his medical degree at JSS Medical College, Mysore, Karnataka, India, after which he earned a master’s degree in public health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Fort Worth, Texas. His residency program included a year of general surgery at Graduate Hospital in affiliation with Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pa, which was followed by an internal medicine residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, Bronx, N.Y.

Dr. Kumar earned his medical degree from MBBS, Kasturba Medical College in India. He holds a master’s degree in epidemiology from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, Ala. He is currently completing the third year of his internal medicine residency at the University of South Alabama, Mobile, Ala.

Dr. Sanchez completed his medical education, including medical school, an internship in general surgery, and an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver, Colo. He then completed a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at The Orthopaedic Center, Eden Prairie, Minn. He currently serves as an assistant professor of orthopaedic sports medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver, Colo.
