Regional West and the Alzheimer’s Association Team Up to Host the First Annual Empowered Caregiver Conference
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., ― Regional West and the Alzheimer's Association are teaming up to host the first annual Empowered Caregiver Conference Saturday, April 18, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., in Regional West’s Education Center located, at 4021 Ave. B.
The free conference will provide valuable information for those who are in the important role of primary caregiver for a loved one, planning to support a parent in the future, or working with patients and their families. It is an excellent opportunity to learn how to help those living with dementia communicate, engage in daily activities, and find the right balance between safety and independence.
Presentations include: Supporting Independence, Communicating Effectively and Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior, and Caregiving is Best Done Together: The Importance of Caregiver Connections.
We have a great line up of presenters from across the state, including: Julie Masters, PhD is a professor and holds the distinguished Terry Haney Chair of Gerontology, University of Nebraska at Omaha; Robby Rhembrandt, NRP, CP-C, Regional West Medical Center, Scottsbluff, Nebraska; and Paulette Schnell, RN, BSN, MSN, Box Butte General Hospital, Alliance, Nebraska.
Understanding the challenges of stepping away as a primary caregiver, free onsite adult respite care services will be available during the conference.
Check-in opens at 9:30 a.m. with educational presentations starting at 10 a.m.
