Hospice Director Chosen for National Hospice Board

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., --Linda Rock, executive director of Prairie Haven Hospice, has been appointed to the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization board of directors. Rock will represent the Central Plains area including Nebraska, Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, North and South Dakota, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma.

“It is truly an honor to represent the central plains states on the national hospice board,” says Rock. “Through the growth that Prairie Haven Hospice has experienced, we have learned so many things about how to improve and enhance the quality of life for patients and their families at the end of life. I am privileged to have the opportunity to contribute that knowledge at the national level. I look forward to the opportunity to bring that shared information back to our program and to similar programs in the states that I’ll be representing.”

Since its incorporation in January of 1998, Prairie Haven Hospice has tripled the number of patients and families it serves with end of life care. Prairie Haven Hospice serves Scottsbluff, Alliance, Kimball and the surrounding areas.

“NHPCO is fortunate, indeed, to have a talented board of directors that brings such a wealth of expertise and insight to the organization. While our board members come from many diverse professional environments – urban and rural, large and small, single-site and multi-state providers, academic institutions and other nonprofit organizations – we all share a common goal to improve care at the end of life,” remarked J. Donald Schumacher, president and CEO of NHPCO.

NHPCO is the oldest and largest nonprofit membership organization representing hospice and palliative care programs and professionals in the United States. The organization is committed to improving end of life care and expanding access to hospice care with the goal of profoundly enhancing quality of life for people dying in America and their loved ones.
