Avenue B To Be Reduced To Two Lanes This Week Due To Construction

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., – Sections of Avenue B northbound near 42nd Street in Scottsbluff will be partially closed beginning Tuesday, March 22 due to construction at Regional West Medical Center.

The two northbound lanes of Avenue B near 42nd Street will be closed Tuesday, March 22, through the end of the week. One of the southbound lanes at 42nd and Avenue B will be converted to a northbound lane during the construction period.

The ambulance, emergency and main patient entrances on the south side of the Regional West facility will remain accessible from Avenue B. The patient dismissal exist on the north side of the facility will also be accessible.

Contractors will begin to unload and hoist steel beams on Tuesday morning as work on the new MRI unit continues. As a safety precaution, some patient rooms will be vacated and some windows in the Progressive Care Unit will be boarded with plywood during construction. In addition, one nearby stairwell will be closed throughout the construction period.

Noise and vibration is anticipated in the Progressive Care Unit as contractors drill into the ceiling of the Emergency Department during the next few days.

Hospital officials apologize in advance for disturbances or inconveniences to patients, visitors, and employees as a result of construction.
