Understanding Pre-diabetes and Preventing Type 2 Diabetes

Scottsbluff, Neb., – Join us for the next Diabetes Support Group meeting where you will learn what pre-diabetes is and what you can do now to prevent the progression of type 2 diabetes. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25, in Regional West Medical Plaza South, Room 1202.

Pre-diabetes means that your blood sugar level is higher than normal, but not high enough to be classified as type 2 diabetes. Without intervention, pre-diabetes is likely to become type 2 diabetes in ten years or less. But there's good news! Pre-diabetes can be an opportunity for you to improve your health. With healthy lifestyle changes – such as eating healthy foods, including physical activity in your daily routine and maintaining a healthy weight – you may be able to bring your blood sugar level back to normal.

Mary Skiles, RDE, Certified Diabetes Educator, will be the presenter. The meeting is open to all and is free of charge. For more information, contact Skiles at 308-630-3725.
