Register for “Stepping On” Fall Prevention Program

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., – Regional West Community Health and the Scotts Bluff County Health Department will host a seven-week “Stepping On” program this summer to help adults reduce the risk of falling.

One-third of Americans aged 65 and over fall each year and one out of five falls causes a serious injury, such as broken bones or a head injury.

“Stepping On” teaches seniors and those at a higher risk for falling how to spot risks, make their homes safer, and how to use regular activity to improve balance and coordination. The class covers strength training, vision, balance, medications, safe footwear, and potential fall hazards.

The “Stepping On” program is helpful to any adult over 55 years old who has had a fall in the past year, has a fear of falling, lives at home, and does not suffer from dementia.

Classes will be held on Mondays, June 5 through July 24, from 9 to 11 a.m. at The Residency at Northfield Retirement Communities, 2100 Circle Drive, Scottsbluff.

To register for “Stepping On,” call Scotts Bluff County Health at 308-630-1580. Early registration is advised as enrollment is limited.
