Regional West Medical Center offers nursing students the opportunity to experience the "real life" environment of nursing through a summer internship. In-state tuition is paid for students by Regional West Medical Center.
The program, in conjunction with University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing-West Nebraska Division, is for senior RN students. The 10-week program takes place from June through August at Regional West Medical Center and other community hospitals in the panhandle of western Nebraska.
Interns work on a one-to-one basis with a preceptor nurse in the clinical area. Students are assigned primarily to one clinical area.
This program provides the intern with the opportunity to expand his or her experiences with communication and team development, critical thinking and clinical decision-making, prioritization and organizational skills, and competency with psychomotor skills.
