Emergency Response Care Renamed Regional West Emergency Medical Services

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., - Regional West’s ambulance service, Emergency Response Care, has been renamed Regional West Emergency Medical Services.

“Emergency care is a vital part of a Level II Trauma Center, and the name change reflects Regional West‘s commitment to providing the highest level of quality care to our communities in western Nebraska and beyond,” said John Mentgen, President and CEO of Regional West Health Services.

Regional West Emergency Medical Services provides emergency and non-emergency 911, hospital to hospital, and critical care transport services, and employs both emergency medical technicians and paramedics. The ambulance fleet is fully equipped with Advanced Life Support equipment for heart attack patients and can meet the needs of the bariatric patient.

Emergency Response Care was established by Regional West in 2002 in Sidney, Neb., to serve the City of Sidney, Cheyenne County, and Memorial Health Care (now Sidney Regional Medical Center). There was a need for 911 services, an ambulance service to transfer patients from Memorial Health to Regional West, and also for emergency response to Sidney and the surrounding communities. Since then, the service has grown and evolved, and now includes ambulances in Sidney, Oshkosh, Chadron, Gordon, Scottsbluff, and Ogallala.

The name change enhances and recognizes Regional West’s continued focus on its trauma services program. As the state’s only Level II Trauma Center west of Kearney, Regional West is committed to delivering exceptional service throughout the entire continuum of care, from first responders to hospital discharge.

Regional West Health Services in Scottsbluff, Neb., is the parent company of Regional West Medical Center, a 182-bed regional referral center and one of three Level II Trauma Centers in the state. As the region’s only tertiary referral medical center, Regional West offers care that spans more than 32 medical specialties provided by over 28 physician clinics. With nearly 300 providers, and over 2,000 employees, Regional West provides comprehensive and innovative health care services for the people of western Nebraska and the neighboring states of Colorado, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
